A very tough competition was seen between Avni Lekhra and Yuni Lee of South Korea until the last shot. India's Avni was in the silver medal position till the last shot, but the Indian shooter scored 10.5 on her last shot. At the same time, the Korean shooter missed the last shot, whose score on the last shot was only 6.8. Because of this, the Korean shooter finally reached a score of 246.8.




Avni Lekhra broke her own record

Avni Lekhra was just 19 years old to participate in the Tokyo Paralympics. There he won the gold medal by scoring 249.6 in the final and set a new Paralympic record. Now in Paris Paralympics, Avni has improved his own record by scoring 249.7 and has done a historic feat. Last time, the silver medal winner of the Tokyo Paralympics, China's Kuiping Zhang, was last this time.




Avni Lekhra has now become the first Indian shooter to win gold medals in two consecutive Paralympic Games. Before him till date no Indian shooter has been able to do this, who has won gold medal in 2 consecutive Paralympics. Avni Lekhra's challenge at the Paralympics 2024 is not over as she will also be in contention for a medal in the women's 50m rifle 3 positions. Avni won the bronze medal last time in this competition, but this time she wants to change the color of her medal.
