Mark Robinson, the lieutenant governor of North Carolina and a candidate for governor, has recently come under fire for a series of controversies. These allegations go beyond typical political disputes and touch on various personal matters that have raised eyebrows. One of the more peculiar accusations involves his alleged frequent visits to adult video stores in the 1990s. Louis Money, a former employee at Gents Video & News and I-40 Video & News, claimed that Robinson regularly visited these shops to watch videos in private booths and purchase bootleg pornography. Despite Money’s insistence that he has no political agenda, Robinson’s campaign has strongly denied the claims, calling them baseless.
This controversy would be challenging enough on its own, but it follows earlier troubling comments made by Robinson, such as his assertion that the movie Black Panther was created by “an agnostic Jew” and his claims that the Holocaust was “hogwash.” These inflammatory remarks have added to the public scrutiny surrounding Robinson's gubernatorial bid.
Adding fuel to the fire, Robinson’s wife, Yolanda Hill, was involved in a lawsuit filed by the Girl Scouts in 2003 over a bounced check of nearly $3,000 for cookies. The court ruled in favor of the Girl Scouts, and this scandal, too, remains unresolved publicly, with Robinson's campaign offering no comment.
